The team took a convoy of HETTs to pick up 14 BMP-1s in order to stand up a new Mechanized Battlaion for the Iraqi Army. Our crew rode along to provide support and security. We had a few small arms contacts, but no casualties. Of course it rained hard all the way there- and all the way back. Typical.

checkpoint soccer crew

Last week during our checkpoint with 1st Armor Battalion, 1st Mech Brigade, Iraqi Army, me and the crew of advisors took time out to play a game of soccer with some of the local kids. Needless to say- we had our asses kicked.

When the press is saying things are going badly for the American soldiers in Iraq- it's because we didn't play soccer as kids...
