One more picture

OK, more that just one. These two pics are on my various Warhammer 40k Armies, and only show two of several. This first is just a pic of an Ork wartrukk.

I recently started working on the Terminators from the GW game Space Hulk. I chose to paint up the figures as Emperor's Children rather than Blood Angles. You can see a few of the others in the background.

That's enough for now. It is late and I am old.

Flames of War British Airborne

One of the Recon Jeeps in the center. You can make out the aerial recognition star and the front bumper markings. This jeep has not been shaded yet.
The is the Company Command Stand and under the special rules in D-1 it is Lt. (or Major, or LTC) Pine-Coffin. For my army he'll be named Major Sharpe. (Thank you Mr. Cornwall) This stand has been shaded and flocked.

All three of the completed stands (well, not completely completed. The Jeep and PLT CMD Stand have to be shaded).

Again, all three from the front. The rest of the Recon Jeep Platoon can be seen still in their primed grey/ Just behind that is my Warhammer 40K figures. You can see the difference in size between the 28mm GW figures and the 15mm FOW figures. As I get older I do prefer the larger size.

I have already built a fairly large WWII Soviet Army in Flame of War, building three full battalions of Infantry. Inspired by our local Gaming Store I have broke out the Brit Red Devils. Here are the first stands, mostly completed.
The paints used are a mix of GWs and FOWs.

I'll be posting more as time goes on and I complete more.

Covenanters in Butternut

Colonel General Sir Davie McAulley, my fictional leader of my Covenanter Army. This is a Revenge figure from their cavalry command pack. He is standing in front of the Aberdeen Militia. The Saker gun and crew. The crew still needs their shading and detail work.
The Aberdeen Militia showing the various shades of grey, green, and drab for the uniforms. They are still WIP, obviously.
The command group is done as is the right 'sleeve' of muskets, waiting on some shading and detail work. These guys should be complete for this weekend's game to be played at The Gamer's Haven.

Aberdeen Militia

Details of Scots Pikemen and Musketeers from the computer wargame 'For King and Country"

http://www.forkingorcountry.com/

Lancers shown with a mix of uniforms including coat, buff leather coat, buff coat under Armor, and Armor over wool hodden grey coat. Wool plaid wrapped around two of the figures.

Musketeers shown wear invariations of dress and in variations of hodden grey clothing.

The second unit I am working on is the Aberdeen Militia. This is a 40 figure regiment with 16 pike and 24 muskets. There is reference to the Colonel's Color being a white flag with the arms of Aberdeen thereon. This is what I am doing. The arms are red shield with three castles in white, with Lions rampent sorounding. "Bon Accord", is the motto of the city and is French literally for "Good Agreement". Legend tells that its use dates from the 14th century password used by Robert the Bruce during the Wars of Scottish Independence, when he and his men laid siege to Aberdeen Castle before destroying it in 1308 and massacring the English Garrison, retaking Aberdeen for the townspeople. The secret phrase to initiate the campaign was "Bon Accord

In the reading I am doing to build this army I am finding that the uniforms of the Scots Convenanters was anything but uniform. Although hotten grey is most commonly referenced as the uniform, this is more realistically a mix of color batches with dye variations and raw wool. This is described by several authors as similar to Confederate butternut.
To portray this I am painting the figures in variable colors of grey, grey-green, drab, greenish drab. This is giving the unit a nice look so far, and more of an adhoc formation of troops rather than a completely uniform and fresh unit. I shall post a pic tonight of the porgress so far.
